Result of Service
The expected outcomes of the virtual induction project:
• Coordinate and record about 32 short induction presentations. This will involve contacting presenters and developing a recording schedule.
• Support presenters which need improvement for attractive presentation design and coaching for effective video recordings
• Ensure all presentations are up to date via consultation with the subject experts; facilitate and assist updating when so needed.
• Develop an informative 20-25 minutes’ presentation on the culture and history of Ethiopia, including do-s and don’t-s (targeting new international staff).
• Collaborate with the ODU team on developing an effective and attractive course structure on Moodle
• Assist the Chief of ODU with video editing and linking videos to Moodle Cloud
• Support the technical process design on Moodle for generating certificates and reports
• Resource the ten most important components for additional information valuable to new arrivals via consultation with various sections of ECA such as medical, travel and visa offices.
• Develop a minimum of three review quizzes reflecting core content covered by presenters
• Pilot-run the platform in collaboration with the ODU team.

Duties and Responsibilities
In 2020, because of the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, ECA shifted its induction program to virtual delivery. We now want to upgrade the current induction program by shifting it to the Moodle Cloud platform, so that new staff in all locations can asynchronously access induction immediately after or even prior to arrival. We need the assistance of a national consultant to implement this project before the year’s end. The Chief of the Organization Development Unit (ODU) will technically guide and support the implementation of this virtual induction project.
The consultancy will require –
• Cultural knowledge of Ethiopia and ability to prepare one cultural presentation
• Skills in reviewing and improving induction presentations in Power Point
• Developing learning components such as review quizzes
• Organizing and recording induction component presenters in Zoom or in Teams
• Uploading videos recorded in Zoom or on Teams
• Skills in information technology and experience with online learning platform training design and administration
• Coordination and planning skills
• Video editing skills will be also desirable
The task is to be conducted in the following phases.
1. Phase 1: (To be completed in three weeks)
• Collaborate with the ODU team on developing an effective and attractive course structure on Moodle
• Evaluate if induction presentations are up to date via consultation with the subject experts and update if so needed
• Support presenters which need improvement for attractive presentation design and coaching for effective video recordings
• Develop an informative 20-25 minutes’ presentation on the culture and history of Ethiopia
• Contact presenters and prepare a recording schedule for the 32 presentations
• Record 20 presentations within three weeks of the start of contract
Phase 2: (To be completed in the remaining three weeks)
• Record the remaining 12 presentations by the end of week #5.
• Resource the ten most important components for additional information valuable to new arrivals vi a consultation with various
sections of ECA such as medical, travel and visa offices.
• Develop a minimum of three review quizzes reflecting core content covered by presenters
• Assist the Chief of ODU with video editing and linking videos to Moodle Cloud
• Support the technical process design on Moodle for generating certificates and reports
• Pilot-run the platform in collaboration with the ODU team
Qualifications/special skills
Academic Qualifications: University degree in either instructional e-learning design, adult education or information technology is required.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible working experience with project implementation for international organizations. Three years of work experience with virtual training design or with virtual learning platforms such as Moodle Cloud or similar is desirable. Proven track record for handling projects requiring a fair amount of planning and stakeholder coordination and mastery of effective presentation design in Power Point and the use of Zoom and Vimeo platforms is an added advantage.
Language: Fluency in English both written and verbal, is required. Working knowledge of French will be an added advantage
