The Central Carolina Community Foundation is seeking applications for Capacity Building Mini-Grants to provide funds to nonprofits to assist with organizational and financial stability, program quality, and growth; allowing them to carry out their missions more effectively.

Seed Grants
Central Carolina Community Foundation, the Midlands center for philanthropy, is a nonprofit organization that links charitable people and businesses with areas of need in their community.

Funding Information

Applicants may request up to $5,000.
The Community Foundation will award at least $40,000 in grants.
Capacity Building grants are for a six-month project.

The Community Foundation is looking to fund grants that will:

Strengthen, grow, and/or diversify the Board of Directors.
Assist in strategic thinking and planning for the future of the organization.
Enable organizations to merge operations and/or programs to ensure sustainability.
Build a plan for long-term sustainability and reliable funding streams.
Develop the skills of staff and board in a specific area impacting governance or management of the organization.
Develop a plan for CEO or executive leadership succession and transition.
Assess, develop and implement plans for inclusion, diversity, equity and access.
Support collaborative initiatives or efforts to enhance systemic support around a community issue.
Assist the nonprofit with procuring cleaning supplies/PPE to keep staff and clients safe.
Eligibility Requirements

Organizations must be determined as a charitable organization in good standing under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, public entities or other charitable, educational or faith-based organizations.
Organizations must have a physical location in one of the following 11 counties in the Midlands: Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and Sumter. Organizations led by BIPOC or outside Richland County are strongly encouraged to apply.
Non-Eligible Activities

Routine operating expenses of the organization;
Fundraising projects—including events;
Debt reduction;
Endowment or capital campaigns;
Medical research;
Individual conference registration;
Costs associated with the creation of a new nonprofit organization;
Completed projects or proposals that have begun implementation;
Grants to individuals;
Certifications or tuition fees.
Application Process

Applications will be reviewed by the Community Impact Committee of Central Carolina Community Foundation.
Final funding decisions are made by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Declinations will be emailed.
Timeline

October 1 – Application Opens;
October 31 – Application Closes;
January 30 – Applicants notified of Application Status (Declinations will be emailed);
March 1 – Project Starts;
August 31 – Project Ends.
