Canada: Winnipeg Foundation’s Major Capital Grants ($100,000+)

Canada: Winnipeg Foundation’s Major Capital Grants ($100,000+)

Deadline: 1-May-23

The Winnipeg Foundation’s Major Capital Grants ($100,000+) are now open for applications to support capital campaigns and large capital projects.

Funding Information

The Winnipeg Foundation’s Major Capital Grants program awards grants to charitable organizations for capital campaigns and large capital projects where the request is greater than $100,000.

Grant Guidelines

• Grants are made for a specific purpose. “Capital” is broadly defined to include diverse kinds of infrastructure that include renovations, new builds, digital assets, natural landscape, and other merit worthy initiatives.
• Project readiness is a factor in grant consideration.

Eligibility Criteria

• Only registered charities are eligible for grants from The Winnipeg Foundation’s Major Capital Grants program.
• Projects must primarily benefit the people of Winnipeg. For projects taking place outside of the City, applicants should demonstrate how the project will also benefit the people of Winnipeg. (This includes people making a temporary home in Winnipeg – for example, those coming to the city for medical treatment.)
• Organizations may apply for a Major Capital grant once per calendar year.
• Applying for a Major Capital Grant does not preclude an organization from applying for a Community Grant or other Special Program grant in the same calendar year, but it must be for a different project.
• In the case of requests for capital upgrades and renovations, the applicant must have longterm (at least 5-year) lease of the space.
• Organizations must demonstrate a strong and committed board, fiscal responsibility, and effective management.
• Grants do not cover costs undertaken before the Grants Committee or Board decision date
