Call for proposals to strengthen Social Mobilization and Provide better SRHR Services in Guinea

Enabel in the Republic of Guinea is launching a call for proposals to strengthen social mobilization and demand, access and quality of sexual and reproductive health services including the management of gender-based violence, in the regions of Kindia (Prefectures of Dubreka and Kindia) and Mamou (prefectures of Mamou & Dalaba) financed by the Women’s Health and Empowerment project – SAFE within the framework of the Belgium-Guinea Cooperation Program.
Objective
- Its general objective is to: “Strengthen the economic, social and environmental resilience of vulnerable populations, particularly young people and women, and enable human development in Guinea.”
- The specific objectives of this call for proposals are:
- Reduce barriers to women’s empowerment and access to sexual and reproductive services and rights through community mobilization in the regions of Kindia (Dubreka and Kindia) and Mamou (Mamou and Dalaba).
- This objective will seek, on the one hand, to support communities in the process of changing social norms that constitute barriers to women’s empowerment and women/girls’ and young people’s access to sexual and reproductive health, through awareness-raising activities, community mobilization and emotional support, through innovative intervention approaches such as SASA/Together and Transformative Conversations (TC).
- On the other hand, it will involve strengthening the capacities of social actors (community organizations, religious leaders, etc.), local traditional media (journalists) and social media (influencers) on gender equality, GBV, SRH, online sexual harassment and how to create gender-sensitive content, in order to broaden awareness for a wide audience on SRH rights issues and gender-based violence (including FGM).
- Improve access to and quality of sexual and reproductive health services and medical management of gender-based violence in the Mamou region (Mamou and Dalaba prefectures).
- The aim is to make available and accessible a comprehensive and high-quality range of health services.

- Improve the care of survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) through a holistic approach, integrating integrated medical, psychological, legal and social services.

- Concretely, this will involve improving psychosocial support through training and mentoring of stakeholders; improving judicial support by strengthening the expertise of judicial services and courts on the prevention and response to GBV, the referral channels available for GBV survivors, existing procedures and remedies, the root causes and consequences of GBV, as well as the legal texts that exist to punish perpetrators and protect victims; raising awareness among these stakeholders about professional ethics and advocating for the media coverage of effective and immediate sanctions against those involved in corruption, amicable settlements, influence peddling, etc.

- The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is EUR 1 123 500.
- Any request for a subsidy under this call for proposals must be between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
- Minimum amount: EUR 1,000,000
- Maximum amount: EUR 1,123,500

Duration
- The initial planned duration of an action cannot exceed 30 months (including the 3-month closing period).
Geographic Coverage
- The actions must be implemented in the following country: Guinea, Kindia regions (Dubreka and Kindia prefectures), Mamou (Mamou & Dalaba prefectures).
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for subsidies, the applicant must meet the conditions following:
- Be a legal person and;
- Be a private non-profit actor or a national or international foundation;
- Be established or represented in Guinea
- Have already managed at least one project worth at least 500 in the last 5 years
- Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and not act as an intermediary
- Co-applicant(s)
- Co-applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Be a legal entity and;
- Be a private non-profit actor or a foundation;
- Be established in Guinea;
- Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the applicant (and other co applicants where applicable) and not act as an intermediary.
