Call for Proposals: Suicide, Alcohol, and Drug Prevention Initiatives (Canada)

The Department of Health’s Inuusivut Division is accepting funding proposals for Upigivatsi suicide prevention initiatives and alcohol and drug prevention funding programs for the 2023-2024 fiscal year.

The funded programs will support suicide prevention, suicide intervention, and suicide post-intervention through the Upigivatsi program and proposals that address substance use through the alcohol and drug program.

Program Activities

• Upigivatsi provides funding for diverse activities including on-the-land programs for youth, connection with elders, formal counselling, development of peer support groups, research, community training, and social emotional learning. Alcohol, and drug prevention programs provide funding for numerous community-based programs and activities including peer support groups, peer counselling, and training.

Eligibility Criteria

• Not-for-profit organizations, municipal governments and Nunavummiut are encouraged to submit proposals for community-based projects.
• Applicants are encouraged to be creative and innovative and develop programs that meet the specific needs of their community and reflect Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit principles.
