Call for Proposals: Empowering Women in Agriculture Program (Haiti)

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is accepting proposals to empower rural women by strengthening their role in agriculture, particularly in the beekeeping sector.

Objectives
  • The program focuses on three main results:
    • Role of Rural Women: Promote the contribution of rural women to food security, nutrition and the fight against climate change.
    • Institutional Strengthening: Improve the institutional framework for an effective gender response, highlighting women’s leadership as agents of peace and development.
    • Income Generating Activities: Increase economic activities by supporting beekeeping as a path to economic empowerment.
Priorities
  • The six priority areas are:
    • Develop women’s voice, leadership and participation.
    • Eliminate violence against women and girls.
    • Strengthen the implementation of the women’s peace and security agenda.
    • Increase the economic autonomy of women.
    • Make gender equality priorities central to national plans, budgets and statistics, local and sectoral.
    • Implement global norms, policies and standards on gender equality and women’s empowerment, thereby laying the foundation for action by governments and other stakeholders at all levels.
Funding Information
  • 150,000.00 -170,000.00 USD
Targets
  • The program targets women’s associations in the Sud, Nippes and Grande Anse departments who are interested in beekeeping and seeking to strengthen their capacities in this area.
Expected Results
  • Strengthening the beekeeping skills of 10 women’s associations.
  • Development of the beekeeping value chain within these associations.
  • Empowerment of association members through the production and sale of honey and derived products.
Eligibility Criteria
  • To be eligible for this call for proposals, the partner must:
    • Not be an institution listed by the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee;
    • Be a legal entity authorized to operate in Haiti;
    • Have no profit motive;
    • Have a valid authorization to work in Haiti issued by a competent Haitian institution;
    • Provide proof of programming experience in the intervention area over the last 3 years;
    • Being directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action and not acting as an organization intermediate;
    • Provide proof of management experience of at least 60% of the amount requested.
