Job Description:

A mining client of ours has a vacancy for a Senior IT Manager to be based at their operations in Central Africa. The Senior IT Manager reports to company management and is responsible for all aspects of the company’s computer system.

Responsibilities:

Improve the company’s I.T. system as per instructions from management;

Supervise the I.T. system infrastructure and the operations and security thereof;

Ensure compliance with prescribed operating procedures/provisions relating to the I.T. system;

Define an I.T. security policy and propose any necessary measures;

Define standards and norms relating to databases, I.T. tools, systems and networks;

Ensure budgetary compliance for any change or improvement in the I.T. system;

Guarantee compliance with prescribed specifications;

Ensure proper utilisation and monitoring of I.T. equipment;

Supervise configuration when connecting hardware to the I.T. network

Assist in the planning, updating, removal or modification of the company’s I.T. equipment;

Responsible for implementing company-wide network security;

Responsible for improvements to the network;

Responsible for planning, managing, developing and upgrading the company’s telephone system.

Responsible for determining the software, hardware or other equipment best adapted to the company;

Responsible for I.T. purchases and asset management;

Responsible for managing software licences in the company.

Responsible for planning, managing and developing upgrades to the company’s telephone system;

Submit recommendations to management regarding upgrades to the company’s telephone system; execute upgrades as per management’s instructions

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

Engineering degree, and 4-5 years’ experience in a similar position

Excellent organisational and analytical skills

Open-minded and ability to adapt to various environments

Ability to generate new ideas, proactive and challenge-oriented;

Rigorous, reliable and self-motivated; Excellent managerial skills; Multitasking abilities

Must be fluent in English, a strong command of French is highly beneficial

Full working competency in Microsoft Word, and ideally good knowledge of other MS Office applications

Excellent capacity for team work, interpersonal intelligence, organisational skills, initiative and resourcefulness

Reliability, ability to work under pressure with the same level of quality, including in crisis-management situations

Ability to work in a professional, multicultural environment

Benefits and Contractual information:

12-month fixed term with option of renewal

FIFO expat position with rotation depending on location of candidate

Available to work late or on weekends, as required / in the case of an urgent need
