Limpopo, LimpopoSenior Commercial Manager (Financial/ Commercial Services / Compliance / EE) – Limpopo Reference Number: 78 1002 RR Job Description:Our client a leading mining company in South Africa is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to take ownership and lead the commercial team as a financial partner advising the Exco Team to drive sustainable business performance through the integration of operational processes with commercial acumen. Responsibilities:Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalitiesDevelop discipline-specific plans/systems to reduce exposure to discipline-specific risksMonitor and ensure effectiveness of discipline Safety & Health systemsCascade financial targets down to work areas on site, for consideration and approval by GM, incorporating appropriate level of stretchDrive the budgeting and forecasting processes on site, including site capital expenditure budgets and forecasts, in continual alignment with SLT, BU and GroupProvide advice and assistance to GM and leadership in developing budgetsAnalyze and provide feedback on discipline budget inputs before providing to GM and CFO for sign-off, acting as quality gate in budgeting processPrepare forward looking risks and opportunities associated with budgets and forecastsProvide business case support for on-site SIB capital expenditure decisions; make recommendations on capital expenditure decisions and trade-offs between business cases, accounting for system constraintsProvide financial information as input to development of Life of Asset Plan and Resource Development PlanProvide financial reporting to leadership and Managed Operations/Group in time and at required level of quality, adhering to Group reporting standardsAct as first point of contact for business information, cost accounting and ad-hoc reporting for leadership, Managed Operations, Group and external auditorsDrive financial performance as per budget and forecasts, track delivery against plan using effective costcontrol mechanisms, and challenge outcomes, ensuring budget holders do not exceed allocated spendManage and ensure adherence to site capital expenditure plans, monitor execution of activities and Capital expenditure, and control utilization of any contingenciesSupport budget owners to provide transparency on the financial impact of their decisions from a cost and capital efficiency perspectiveUndertake post investment reviews to ensure capital spend effectivenessProactively provide financial data insights to leadership to inform operational decision makingEnsure compliance with delegation of authority levels on site and ensure implementation of financial standardsContinuously identify and assess improvement opportunities within CommercialProactively identify Commercial-specific challenges and opportunities that new technology could address, seek input from Group subject matter experts who lead solution design, and embed new technologies (e.g., data analytic capabilities) into the on-site Commercial workProvide feedback on Finance system requirements developed at Managed Operations and Group level and support implementation of standard toolsDrive performance management and improvement by consolidating and communicating management reporting insights (e.g., discrepancies in Balanced Scorecard, operational headwinds analysis) across disciplinesIdentify key value drivers and operational cost drivers across the value chain, to facilitate value-based steering of operational decisionsAdvise discipline managers and superintendents on operational cost performance improvement opportunitiesSupport disciplines in financial modelling and scenario analysis of improvement opportunities to develop business casesActively supply performance analysis insights & benchmarksIdentify cross-discipline continuous improvement opportunitiesAdvise GM and CFO on priority initiatives to expediteSupport working capital management and optimization initiatives (e.g., stockpile transparency) in close cooperation with planning rolesManage delivery of the sustainability activities as relevant to the discipline and set out in the Building Forever Plan to improve sustainability performance over timeImplement and participate in processes that build relationships with key local stakeholdersCreate a purpose-led, high-performing culture within the discipline that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversityLead effective employee & contractor management processes for the disciplineDrive people development within disciplineEngage in local dispute resolution with employee representative bodies as relevant to discipline, escalate as requiredLead compliance of the discipline with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) local requirements as a minimum level of site performanceEnsure compliance with Group requirements within discipline on siteDevelop required compliance governance for the disciplineOversee investigation of incidents (safety, health, environmental and social) occurring within the discipline
