Our Client is looking for a Project Superintendent who will essentially be taking care of managing sustainable growth projects of up to $1million.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Projects Superintendent will be responsible for Reliability Projects over all plant areas such as TSF, crushers, screens and conveyers, general electrical, mechanical and civil projects in order to sustain the current assets.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the management of overall project activities and resources to produce results in alignment with the Client’s, Company’s and Project’s requirements;

Deliver support and technical competence, in the delivery of the projects and studies to meet the requirements of projects;

Follow the various (project specific and company) procedures, work practices, plans and protocols required to work efficiently and maintain a consistent approach and high standard Analyse & develop project brief, project strategy and full scope of work;

Identify any potential problems, disputes, conflicts and resolving them timeously;

Develop a detailed Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) which including the detailed project schedule/programme feeding to the integrated schedule and accurately report progress against baseline schedule;

Monitor project budget & scope and submit Formal Change Request to Engineering Manager;

Coordinate with “statutory authorities” (e.g. Certificate of Compliance.) for all Civil and Structural infrastructure scope of work;

Manage a team consisting of a Construction Engineer, 4x field supervisors (electrical, mechanical and civil) and numerous contractors

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

Ideal candidates will possess a strong understanding of project controls (principally cost, schedule and contract administration)

Mechanical Engineering Degree

Project Management qualification will be beneficial

15 years career experience, of which +5 years as an expat in difficult conditions

5 years’ experience in mine engineering, mine geology, copper heap leach / tank leach CCD / SX / EW

African experience mandatory, preferably East or Central Africa

Demonstrated success in lean teams with high interdependence on others and self

French skills advantageous
