English Teacher (Hourly Paid)Role PurposeTo provide learners with a rewarding and stimulating English language learning experience. To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English. To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission.Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:This post will have the following core functions:Teaching

• Plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account individual learning needs and modes of learningEnsure teaching meets British Council Global Teaching Standards, as well as organisational and learner expectations.Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout their learning, and actively promote learner autonomy and progressActively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning and maintain British Council’s position at the forefront of best ELT practices.

Teaching Centre Activities

• Support teaching centre’s activities and British Council plansAttend staff meetings and otherwise contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services, in order to meet students’ needs by actively working as a member of the teaching teamSupport local marketing and promotional strategy, and assist the teaching centre team in delivering excellent customer service through dissemination of information and communications with studentsComplete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards and uphold professional responsibilities and values. Ensure British Council’s values and behaviours are reflected in their work

Customers & Stakeholders

• Maintain good relationships with customers and colleaguesEnsure customers are aware of British Council’s cultural relations role and help develop opportunity for students to gain some understanding of the UK and its values and to participate in inter-cultural interactions either in class or as out of class activity

• Undergraduate / University degreeRecognized teaching qualification with two years minimum post-qualification experienceCambridge CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL (or other certificate level qualification)

DesirableInternationally recognized Diploma in EFL i.e. Cambridge DELTA/Trinity Dip TESOLFurther Information
