The Senior HSE Compliance Advisor will be the technical lead in country for regulatory compliance. Guiding, coaching and assisting the Regions Operations (Operations, Projects, Wells and Exploration) and functional teams. They will develop and submit permit applications and plans required for exploration, drilling, intervention, production and decommissioning of oil and gas in the region. This person will also develop and deliver compliance management activities, such as conducting self-verification for permitting, driving performance through the compliance management system, and maintaining knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements (including new emerging regulations). In addition, the role will provide an in country focal point to support environment and social management activities.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Interpret regulatory requirements as they pertain to exploration, drilling, production and decommissioning of oil and gas activities in the region and provide guidance to Operations and Functions.
  • Document, communicate, and verify implementation of operational controls for regulatory permits and compliance requirements
  • Deliver permit applications and plans related to exploration, drilling, interventions, production, and decommissioning of oil and gas activities in accordance with the regulatory requirements
  • Provide on-call, after hours and vacation coverage for the environment, social and HSE regulatory team on a rotational basis.
  • Provides recommendations on the development and implementation of the Region compliance management system and permitting processes and procedures
  • Conducting self-verification activity of the compliance management system
  • Lead HSE compliance related training to the appropriate Operations, Wells, and Projects leadership and staff.
  • Support offshore internal self-verification and regulatory inspections
  • Participate in the Incident Management Team (IMT)
  • Act as in country (Senegal) focal point to support environment and social management activities.

Job requirements

  • Essential: Bachelor’s degree
  • Desirable: Advanced Degree in Science or equivalent in engineering, geosciences, environmental or related degree
  • 6-8 years HSSE Experience of which at least 4-5 years spent within the energy/ Oil & Gas Industry
  • Prior regulatory permitting experience within the region
  • Ability to work with SMEs to translate technical knowledge into pragmatic advice and support
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent French and English
  • Good English communication. Must be able to read, write and speak
  • Only applications submitted in English will be reviewed
