Australian Embassy in Phnom Penh: Seeking EOIs for Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2018/19

The Australian Embassy in Phnom Penh is seeking for Expressions of Interest for its Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2018/19, a flexible, small grantsprogram funded from Australia’s aid budget and managed by DFAT’s overseas posts.

 

The purpose of the DAP is to assist developing countries to reduce povertyand assist in sustainable development. Funding is available to organisation engaged in development activities on a not-for-profit basis.

Priorities

In 2018-19, priority will be given to projects that:

  • Engage and support Cambodian youth
  • Promote human rights, including gender equality and opportunities for minority groups
  • Empower civil society participation in public debate, and
  • Support environmental management and sustainable development.

Funding Information

  • In 2018 – 19, DAP offers grants up to AUD$60,000 per project.
  • DAP projects for 2018 – 19 should begin by January 2019 and have a maximum duration of 16 months.
  • Grants must be fully expensed by 30 June 2020 and acquitted within one month of the project’s completion.

Themes

Proposals that also achieve one or more of the following will be considered favorably:

  • Strengthen partnerships between Cambodia and Australia
  • Deepen relationship building between Cambodia and other ASEAN countries
  • Enhance the implementation of international norms to which Cambodia is a party
  • Strengthen Cambodian cultural and artistic institutions
  • Support women leaders, and
  • Leverage funding or in-kind support from other sources.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Non-government organisations or institutions recognised by the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) are eligible to apply. This includes both local and international organisations and institutions.
  • Private sector organisations can apply but must implement Direct Aid Program activities on a not-for-profit basis.
  • If an organisation or institution is applying for the first time, proof of their recognition by Cambodian authorities and examples of previous projects should be provided.
  • DAP projects should aim to achieve practical, tangible outcomes for sustainable development in Cambodia.
  • Projects must demonstrate a commitment to the equal participation of men and women.
