Arts Micro-Grant to assist Indigenous Artists and Collectives (Canada)

The First Peoples’ Cultural Council is seeking proposals for the Arts Micro-Grant Program to assists Indigenous artists and collectives to achieve outcomes that respond to extenuating circumstances and unforeseen opportunities and contribute to professional development in all artistic disciplines. The program is made possible through a partnership with the BC Arts Council.
Seed Grants
The Micro-Grant stream will assist with projects initiated and directed by Indigenous artists and collectives who have demonstrated commitment to their artistic practice in any artistic discipline – visual, music, dance, theatre, literary or media, including the contemporary practice of traditionally-based forms.

reduce barriers and create access to artistic opportunities;
increase their skills and knowledge.
Funding Information
Grants to individual artists or collectives are up to $1,000.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible the applicant must:
demonstrate the Micro-Grant will support emergent activities on a one-time basis;
have previous experience that demonstrates a commitment to their artistic practice;
demonstrate the support of recognized Indigenous artists, cultural or community leaders;
not be a full-time student.
To be eligible projects must:
have a clear artistic objective;
provide creative or professional development opportunities for Indigenous artists;
provide an opportunity for the artist to move forward in his/her practice;
present a realistic and balanced budget, which clearly demonstrates financial need.
Applications to this program will be accepted from:
Indigenous artists 19 years of age or older, or collectives, working in any artistic discipline, who have been a resident of British Columbia for the past year;
If there is a question about whether you live in British Columbia, you may be asked to provide documentation. Your proof of residency can include a valid British Columbia services card, a valid British Columbia driver’s license or evidence of income taxes paid in the previous year as a British Columbia resident.
Note: Applications involving more than one artist must be submitted by one individual on behalf of the group.
