Apply Now: Direct Aid Program to support Sustainable and Inclusive Development

Deadline: 23-Nov-2025

The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a small-grants initiative funded by Australia’s aid budget that supports non-profit organisations working in local communities to achieve sustainable and inclusive development.

The program focuses on climate, renewable energy, oceans, environmental protection and/or promoting biodiversity; governance, education and/or economic empowerment; gender equality, social inclusion and the protection of minority and/or human rights; and disaster and/or livelihoods resilience, including food, water and health security.

Each grant may receive up to AUD 60,000 or the USD equivalent, with projects expected to be completed within one year of entering into a grant agreement.

DAP funding is available to registered community groups, NGOs, and other entities operating on a not-for-profit basis in Mauritius (including Rodrigues), Comoros, and Madagascar. The program also welcomes regional projects, including those involving Seychelles, provided they benefit the participating countries or have additional sources of funding for Seychelles.

Projects eligible for DAP support should aim to deliver practical and tangible outcomes with a high development impact. Initiatives that can act as catalysts for further community development or serve as models for replication elsewhere are particularly encouraged. The program also gives special consideration to proposals that have a disability focus.
