Apply Now: Climate Impact innovations Challenge (Indonesia)

Deadline: 4 June 2025

The Climate Impact Innovations Challenge calls for viable and innovative solutions in Energy Transition, Sustainable Agriculture, and Circular Economy in Indonesia and beyond.

Tracks

  • Energy Transition
    • As one of the world’s largest energy producers, Indonesia is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2060 or sooner. To meet this goal, a transition to greener energy production is essential.
    • Therefore, they are seeking innovative solutions that promote renewable energy adoption, sustainable mobility systems, and efficient resource use. Their goal is to enable inclusive, cost-effective energy transitions that benefit communities and industries while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
    • What they look out for in a solution:
      • Promote renewable energy adoption and its supporting technologies.
      • Develop sustainable mobility systems alongside the necessary infrastructure.
      • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions from industrial sectors (incl. manufacturing, energy efficiency measures, and refrigeration systems, etc.)
      • Be technology-driven, economically viable, and scalable for market adoption, particularly in Indonesia.
  • Sustainable Agriculture
    • Agriculture and land use practices are the largest sources of Indonesia’s emissions. While urgent climate mitigation is essential, ensuring food security for its 270 million people remains equally critical.
    • Hence, they are seeking innovative solutions that promote sustainable food systems, resilient agricultural and aquaculture practices, and nature-based solutions. Their goal is to implement scalable, inclusive strategies that enhance the livelihoods of farmers and fishermen, ensure food security, restore ecological balance, and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
    • What they look out for in a solution:
      • Enhance food security while minimizing environmental and social impacts.
      • Increase agricultural and aquaculture productivity while ensuring resilience adapting to climate change.
      • Nature-based solutions that generate high-integrity carbon credits and its support ecosystem technologies.
      • Be technology-driven, economically viable, and scalable for market adoption, particularly in Indonesia.
  • Circular Economy
    • Indonesia has a mounting waste problem while facing increasing water scarcity projection by 2045. At the same time, strengthening resilience to climate-related disasters is crucial for fostering sustainable economic growth.
    • Therefore, they are seeking innovative solutions that promote both waste and water circularity and help adapt to climate-related disasters. Their goal is to prevent and manage pollution, improve community health, enhance resilience to climate change impacts, and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
    • What they look out for in a solution:
      • Advance waste circularity through technology that prevents waste generation, transforms waste into valuable materials, and extends product lifespans.
      • Enhance water availability, accessibility, and quality for communities.
      • Strengthen climate adaptation efforts to improve resilience of the livelihoods.
      • Be technology-driven, economically viable, and scalable for market adoption, particularly in Indonesia.
