Applications are now open for Small Projects Components for the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF) to provide funding for projects that make communities and workplaces more accessible for persons with disabilities.

EAF creates more opportunities for persons with disabilities to:

take part in community activities, programs and services
access employment
Objectives

This process will provide funding for projects that improve accessibility and safety for persons with disabilities in:

a facility where persons with disabilities work or could work in the future (Workplace Accessibility Stream); or
a community space where programs or services are, or will be available for persons with disabilities (Community Accessibility Stream)
Note: You can submit only 1 application. Your project can either focus on workplace accessibility or community accessibility. The limit of 1 application is important to remember if you have:

multiple offices
departments or sectors under 1 Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) business or registration number
For multiple applications with a same CRA business or registration number, they will review only your first application.

Government of Canada gives priority to:

projects that improve the accessibility and safety of persons with disabilities in facilities where they work or could work
construction projects for ramps, accessible doors and accessible washrooms. Note: New to the EAF this year is the use of flat rates for determining the funding for these construction projects.
Funding Information

Eligible organizations can apply for up to $100,000 for:

small construction, renovation or retrofit of existing spaces to improve accessibility
accessible information and communication technologies
Eligibility Criteria

To receive funding, your organization must be a:

(Ad) How to raise funds? Where can I find a list of donors for my area of work? How to write proposals? How can I submit a grant request to USAID, the European Commission or the Gates Foundation? How can I use Social Media to promote my work? We have developed powerful resources in the form of Ebook and Articles covering all this information and more. Learn more.

not-for-profit (an organization that does not make money for itself);
business (with a maximum of 99 full-time equivalent employees);
small municipality (with population under 125,000 as per the 2016 Census data);
Indigenous organization (including band council, tribal council and self-governing organization);
territorial government.
In addition:

you must submit a complete application package before the deadline
your project cannot exceed 24 months
your project activities cannot be:
on a Government of Canada property;
in a public hospital;
in a public school (or on school grounds);
in a private home or dwelling.
your organization must not have received funding from the 2018 EAF funding processes for small and mid-sized projects
your project must be in one of the following:
a facility where persons with disabilities work or could work in the future (Workplace Accessibility Stream); or
a community space where programs or services are, or will be available for persons with disabilities (Community Accessibility Stream).
for projects other than ramps, accessible doors and accessible washrooms, you must provide 1 external cost estimate (quote). You must submit a rationale if you cannot provide an estimate and an explanation of how you calculated your project costs.
For a small construction project, renovation or retrofit of an existing space:

you must submit a digital picture of the project space to improve (GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, TXT, PDF, DOC, DOCX)
Your picture must demonstrate the accessibility barriers for persons with disabilities;
Please do not submit a picture for an accessible information and communication technology project.
By signing the application form, you attest that:

you own the building or lease the space;
if you lease the space, the property owner authorizes you to proceed with the construction, renovation or retrofit.
your activities are not:
on a Government of Canada property;
in a public hospital;
in a public school;
in a private home or dwelling.
For the purpose of this funding process, these activities are not eligible:

retrofit of motor vehicles (for example, cars, vans, buses) used for community-based or individual transport;
construction, renovation or retrofit activities that aim to decorate or improve esthetics of a building or its surroundings.
