Job description

The incumbent provides travel support and services to U.S. Embassy employees, their families, and official visitors to the U.S. Embassy. Arranges for purchase of and confirmation of airline tickets, makes hotel accommodations, coordinates ground transportation, serves as back-up for the Travel Expeditor for arriving and departing employees in Senegal, and for temporary duty personnel coming to, leaving from, or transiting Senegal. Meets, assists and supports travelers through customs clearances, check-in, passport formalities and baggage claim. Assists with entering, approving, and tracking of travel authorizations and helps identify and manage any travel-related difficulties to ensure travelers receive excellent customer service. Provides back-up duties during the absence of the Travel Office Assistant and works under the supervision of the LE Staff Travel Supervisor.

Job requirements

One-year of customer service experience in travel industry working directly with paying customers for a travel agency, airline, hotel, or company catering to business and/or leisure travelers is required.
Must be familiar with USG travel regulations, Fly America Act, Standardized Regulations, pertinent sections of the Foreign Affairs Manual (FAM), ABC travel guide, and IATA regulations.
Completion of secondary school is required.
English and French Level III (good working knowledge) and Wolof Level II are required. (This may be tested),
Must be proficient in the Microsoft suite of applications. Must be proficient in using databases. Must be able to draft basic correspondence in English. Must possess a valid local driver’s license.
