Alaska Community Foundation announces Social Justice Fund for Alaska

The Alaska Community Foundation (ACF) is accepting grant applications for the Social Justice Fund for Alaska. ACF’s goal for this grant opportunity is to support strategic collaborations that prioritize leadership development and allow Alaskans to address the root causes of challenging social justice issues within their communities and across the state.

Early Grant Information for NGOs

Key Consideration

To be considered for funding, proposals must support efforts that are collaborative in nature, committed to leadership development, and actively address systemic social justice issues in Alaska. What type of support can you request in your application?

Program Expansion or Creation– Supports specific projects or programs that serve the community and are linked to an organization’s primary mission.
General Operational Support– Supports operations of organizations and programs directly addressing social justice issues. Organizations must demonstrate that general operating support is sustainable beyond the period for requested funds.

Climate Fund to alleviate energy poverty in Developing Countries

This Request for Applications is open to strengthening the Economic Development Efforts

Grants for African CSOs to implement activities in SGBV, SRHR, HP, and VAWG

Small Research Grants for the improvement of education

This grant-making trust inviting Charities to help Socially Disadvantaged Groups during COVID-19

Support available for NGOs working on social innovation, inclusiveness and sustainability

Advocacy grants to strengthen the voice of communities and grassroots activists

USD $250,000 to $2 million funding available for each selected partner to address Covid-19 impact in select countries

Endowment Funding of € 25,000 for young people fighting for freedom

Seed Funding for Youth-led Organisations: Invitation to Submit Proposals

Grant Opportunity to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 and Future Pandemics

Grant awards through this program will range from $5,000 to $15,000 and may be eligible for renewal for an additional year.
ACF anticipates awarding 8 to 12 grants.
The total 2021 grant-making allocation for this program is $150,000.
Restrictions/Limitations

The following are not eligible for grant funding:

Individuals.
State or federal government agencies.
For-profit organizations or businesses.
501(c)(4) organizations (civic leagues, social welfare organizations or local associations of employees).
501 (c)(6) organizations (local chamber organizations, business leagues or real estate boards).
Requests for endowment building, deficit financing, direct fundraising costs, lobbying, and electioneering. However, research and educational activities are permitted.
Advertisements, Sponsorships, special events.
Activities that improperly discriminate as to race, gender, marital status, sexual preference, age, disability, creed or ethnicity or grants for religious indoctrination or other religious activities.
Activities outside the State of Alaska.

If your organization fits all or most of the eligibility criteria below and seeks to apply, If you have an open grant at ACF, your organization may apply as long as all reporting requirements are up to date. Past Social Justice Fund grantees seeking to reapply should speak with ACF Staff.

Your organization is a 501(c)3 public charitable nonprofit, tribe, school, faith-based organization, local government agency, program, or grassroots organization with an eligible fiscal sponsor.
Your organization’s leadership and board are composed of individuals who represent and are accountable to the communities served.
Your organization consults with the communities it serves and incorporates community priorities as part of its core focus.
Your organization collaborates with local partners working on similar issues and has a clear vision and strategy for improving the quality of life in the communities it serves.
Your organization empowers community members to take collective action in addressing community needs.
Your organization is interested in long-term, fundamental, ideological shifts in relation to social justice issues.
