| Description | Action Against Hunger has been operating in Yemen since 2012, upscaling its emergency activities in 2016 due to the conflict between Al Houthi and the Saudi-led coalition. Yemen is currently facing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, with 80% of the population in need of humanitarian aid. Action Against Hunger has responded to multiple large-scale and interconnected emergencies: conflict, famine and a cholera epidemic, using a multisectoral approach (Nutrition & Health, Food Security, WASH and Mental Health programming) and by piloting the country’s first Rapid Response Mechanism alongside UNICEF. Donors supporting these programs are the EU through ECHO and DEVCO, UN agencies (UNICEF, WFP, UNOCHA, UNFPA), GAC, DFID, SIDA and private foundations. Focus is now on providing life-saving quality health and nutrition services, addressing the causes of hunger and undernutrition and promoting evidence-based programming through surveillance, analysis, and advocacy. |

| Expériences / Formation du candidat | Under the supervision of the Regional Operations Director, you ensure the effective leadership of one of Action Contre la Faim’s largest, most complex and high profile Country Offices in the world. You will be an effective Country Office leadership building the capacity and motivation of the team.
You have significant maturity and experience in working with complex national stakeholders including excellent negotiation skills. You have an ability to absorb and understand the context (security, cultural, political) and ensure that ACF’s programs effectively consider those factors. You have a strong understanding of Donors and of their requirements. You are making sure that their policies and procedures are effectively put in place at field level to ensure the highest levels possible of compliance and accountability to the beneficiaries, donors and ACF. Do you fit with the position? You hold a master degree in Humanitarian, Social Sciences or similar fields, with minimum 7 years of progressive humanitarian experience, including at least 12 months as a Country Director. Of the above, you have at least 12 months experience in particularly complex humanitarian environments (e.g. Afghanistan, Somalia, South Sudan, RDC, CAR etc….). You have demonstrate strong leadership skills in complex humanitarian setting. You have interpersonal, organizational, multitasking and communication skills and a high capacity of work, able to overcome stress and work under pressure, with high degree of flexibility.
