ACT Government’s 2022 Youth Week Grant Program in Australia

The ACT Government has announced an open call for 2022 Youth Week Grant Program, it is a week-long celebration of young people aged 12 to 25 years.

ACT Youth Week provides young people with the opportunity to express their ideas and views, and act on issues that impact on them and their peers. It is also a time to celebrate, to have fun and highlight the positive contributions young people make to their community.

Aims
The 2022 ACT Youth Week Grant program are available to assist groups of young people to organise events for other young people. These grants provide funding for innovative new projects that enable young people aged 12 – 25 years old to lead and participate in community development activities targeted for other young people in Canberra and the region.

There are many ways that an activity / event or project could be facilitated. For example through:

building supportive connections between community members using sport, recreation, cultural and creative activities and events;
organising and running events;
increasing opportunities for young people to participate in local community events, activities and youth related causes;
recognising the contribution that young people make to their local communities; and
increasing opportunities for young people through the development of leadership skills, project management skills, networking encounters plus team work, communication and decision-making skills.
Objectives
The 2022 ACT Youth Week Grant program will only be provided to eligible applicants or organisations whose proposal meets one or more of the following criteria:

encourages a range of young people to get involved in their local community and increases their personal and professional development;
provides safe, smoke, alcohol and drug free entertainment and recreational opportunities for young people in the ACT;
free to attend;
involves young people at all levels of organisation and management;
is supported by and involves the local community;
is led by young people, when an activity/event/project is supported by an agency/organisation; and
is held during 2022 ACT Youth Week which runs from Monday 4 April 2022 to Thursday 14 April 2022.
Funding Information
A total of $20,000 (GST exclusive) is available in the 2022 ACT Youth Week funding round for eligible applicants/organisations up to $2,000 per application.
The grant is a one-off funding opportunity for eligible projects to be delivered during 2021 ACT Youth Week Monday 4 April 2022 to Thursday 14 April 2022 and are not intended as a recurring funding source.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

The applicant must be one of the following:
a not-for-profit incorporated association or company; OR
a not-for-profit organisation with other legal status; OR
a not-for-profit organisation in an auspice arrangement with one of the above; OR
an ACT Government or Non-Government Educational Institute; OR
is a young person between 12-25 years of age who resides in the ACT or attends school in the ACT (includes tertiary institution).
Not received a ACT Youth Week Grant in the past two years for the same project.
Be implementing the activity, event or project in the ACT and for the benefit of ACT residents between 12-25 years of age.
Have no overdue reporting obligations for any previous ACT Government grants including evaluations, acquittal reports and audited financial statements.
Organisations that are not incorporated and do not have an Australian Business Number (ABN) must be auspiced by an incorporated entity with an Australian Business Number (ABN).
ACT Government and Non Government Educational institutions are not required to be auspiced by an incorporated entity, but must provide their institutions Australian Business Number (ABN).
Only one application per eligible applicant/organisation/educational institute will be accepted.
Individuals aged above 25 years, profit making groups, government entities (except for educational institutions), sub-contractors and registered political parties are not eligible to apply.
Applicants (in particular Organisations/educational institutions and / or applicants linked to organisations or educational institutions) are required to provide secondary contact details to ensure contact can be maintained during non-trading periods, such as, Christmas and school holidays.
