The ACT Government is currently seeking applications for the Community Zero Emissions Grants Program – Round 4 to encourage innovative solutions at the local and community level that directly reduce emissions as well as engage the community on how they can contribute.

The Community Zero Emissions Grants Program provides funding to eligible organisations and individuals to undertake on-ground activities to develop initiatives, programs and projects that support the ACT’s transition to net zero emissions by 2045.

The Community Zero Emissions Grants Program is designed to fund projects, initiatives and programs that will:

develop and implement innovative solutions and generate new knowledge and information to support a community transition to net zero emissions by 2045.
assist the community to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the ACT
drive greater community awareness and engagement in transition to net zero emissions.
Program Priorities

Sustainable transport will be the key priority area for Round Four, though applications from other areas (including energy, buildings, waste and mechanisms for social engagement) are encouraged.

$127,500 of funding is available in Round Four (including rollover from previous rounds), with grants of up to $25,000 (excluding GST) to eligible community based groups.

Eligibility Criteria

Individuals and non-incorporated groups are strongly encouraged to apply through an auspicing incorporated not-for-profit organisation. Where an application includes an auspicing organisation, the Deed of Grant will be signed by the auspicing organization.
To be eligible for the Community Zero Emissions Grants Program your organisation (or the auspicing organisation) must meet ALL of the following criteria. Your organisation must:
be a not-for-profit organisation with an incorporated legal structure (e.g. an incorporated association, a company limited by guarantee, an indigenous corporation or a non-trading co-operative).
have a minimum of $10 million public liability insurance or provide a quote from an insurance company and then become insured for $10 million public liability upon becoming successful for funding. This grant cannot be used to pay for the required insurance.
be applying for funding for a project to be undertaken within the ACT
If undertaking works to a property, have permission of the building owner to do so. This is critical where community organisations lease ACT Government properties, which may be subject to existing repair and maintenance or minor capital works programs
advise of any outstanding grants from the ACT Government, and
complete all relevant questions in the application form and have the declaration signed by the appropriate person (i.e. CEO or other authorised delegate).
Not-for-profit incorporated community organisations and not-for-profit groups registered under the Corporations Act 2001 can apply for funding. Individuals and non-incorporated groups are strongly encouraged to apply through an auspicing incorporated community organisation. An applicant must:
undertake project activities in the ACT
not be a government agency
not be a political party registered under the Electoral Act and
be prepared to enter into a Deed of Grant with the Territory
Ineligibility Criteria

The following entities are not eligible to apply for funding under the ACT Community Zero Emissions Grants Program:
