Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action Against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.

 

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

Work in coordination with the technical team to implement the logistics policy of the mission, ensure good logistical performance and provide the best possible support to the programs.

The Base logistician is overall responsible for all logistics activities in the base (procurement, fleet, storage, equipments, premises) and actively contributes to the security management (analysis and operational implementation).

The Base logistician is responsible for all related procurements strictly following donors’ guidelines and Kitlog 3.6 guidelines. In addition, the base logistician will closely supervise/update the entire equipment list, supervise vehicle fleet and office maintenance in order to ensure an efficient response to all programs within the base. Lastly, the base logistician will monitor and report any incident related to security within the base.

Objective 1: Provide leadership in the area of activity

• Monitoring and analyzing logistical indicators in his/her zone
• Assessment of the logistical capacities of his/her zone

Objective 2: Implement and ensure the performance of the supply chain

• Ensuring conformity with AAH procedures at each stage of the supply chain
• Performance in respect of costs, quality and timeliness in the supply chain (purchasing, transport, stock) throughout his/her zone

Objective 3: Implement and ensure the performance of fleet & facilities management

• Safety of the working and living environment
• Provision and maintenance of logistical equipment
• Security of logistical equipment, training and assistance to users

Objective 4: Implement and ensure the performance of information and communication technology and network management

• The setting up and efficient operation of the means of communication (voice and data) in accordance with AAH standards
• The security of both equipment and its users
• Training and support to users

Objective 5: Contribute to security management: Security

• Working on the definition and application of the Local Security Plan
• Doing security briefing and training of AAH teams

Objective 6: Manage the Logistics team in the base

• Day-to-day management of his/her team (guidance, follow-up, motivation)
• Evaluating the performance and developing the skills of his/her team members

• University degree with professional experience in humanitarian logistics work.
• Procurement management, fleet management, Supply Chain management, Inventory control, intermediate IT knowledge, security.
• 2 years minimum experience working on projects at humanitarian aid organizations and/or international donors or private sector.
• Experience in team and capacity building
• Humanitarian sector knowledge: Compulsory
• English compulsory (written and verbal), Arabic an asset.
• Strong Knowledge of Windows domain, Office 365, anti-malware programmes and KOBO program a plus.
• Mobility between bases as required. international travels might be requested.

•  Formal work contract: 6 months.
•  Base: Gaza
• Compensation packaged: from 27.678,00 € – 32.178,00 € € gross/year divided in 12 payments and based on experience y context. This salary includes a base salary + context plus + living expenses and per Diem (*)
