Category one grants—uniforms and equipment

Grants of up to $2,000 are available for African and/or Pasifika teams to purchase sports uniforms and/or equipment for young people participating in informal sports teams, games or events.
Grants can be used to cover these costs:
grants must be spent on equipment and/or uniforms used in informal sporting activities eg. Clothing, shoes, boots, bats, balls, racquets, nets, first aid equipment etc.

Grants of up to $30,000 are available to assist African and/or Pasifika sports teams to engage young people to participate in sports games, competitions and events. These grants also focus on providing pathways into formal sporting organisations as well as mentoring, training and employment opportunities for young people.
Grants can be used to cover these costs associated with managing informal sports teams, games and events:
staffing costs: salary for program coordinator and event staff
operational costs: costs to hire venues and sports grounds
training and capacity building costs: mentoring/coaching and leadership development for participants.
Eligibility Requirements

Category 1 – Uniforms and equipment

Eligibility
Teams using/owning the uniforms and equipment must reside in Victoria.
Uniforms and equipment are for African and/or Pasifika young people (12 to 25 years of age).
Eligible expenditure
Expenditure must be on equipment and/or uniforms used in informal sporting activities.
Eligible items include:
uniforms – jumpers, tracksuits, shoes, boots, sports bras, socks (examples only)
equipment – bats, balls, racquets, nets, gloves, helmets, pads, first aid equipment (examples only).
Ineligible applications include:
applications for individual young people.
primary or secondary school sport and recreation clubs.
university or TAFE sport clubs that participate in inter-varsity competitions.
activities that require young people to register as a member to pay membership or other fees.
Category 2 – Informal sporting teams, games and events

Eligibility
Informal sporting teams must reside in Victoria.
Informal sporting teams and activities must have African and/or Pasifika young people (12 to 25 years of age) as participants.
Informal sporting teams must hold activities in a safe and inclusive environment.
Eligible expenditure
Eligible expenditure includes the cost of managing informal sports teams, games and events. For example:
staffing costs – salary for program coordinator and event staff
operational costs – costs to hire venues and sporting grounds
training and capacity building costs – mentoring/coaching and leadership development for participants.
Ineligible applications include:
primary or secondary school sport and recreation clubs
university or TAFE sport clubs that participate in inter-varsity competitions
activities requiring young people to register as a member to pay membership or other fees.
