Are you MSc or PhD student enrolled in a Kenyan or Ghanaian university specializing in public health, environmental resources management, or urban planning? You have a passion for applying science and technology to solve fundamental development challenges? Are you looking for an opportunity to collaborate with leading researchers dedicated to safe drinking water and better sanitation in Africa? If you answered yes to all of the above, apply now for a three-month research fellowship with The Aquaya Institute.

The Aquaya Institute (Aquaya) is an independent, non-profit research and consulting organization dedicated to safe, equitable, and sustainable water and sanitation in low-resource settings. Their mission is to improve public health by reducing the burden of waterborne diseases. Aquaya was established in 2005 to provide development agencies, governments, and implementing organizations with a trustworthy and agile resource for conducting rigorous research, experimentation, and evaluation.

Aquaya has completed projects spanning public health, economics, technology development, and social entrepreneurship in over 20 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. They have published or contributed to over 40 peer-reviewed research articles and produced numerous other reports and publications.

  • Fellows will be based in Nairobi/Accra office and receive the following support:
    • Coverage of travel expenses (including a one-round trip to Nairobi/Accra and all research-related travel)
    • A stipend for lodging and additional living expenses
