2022 Green Enterprise: Innovation for a Circular Economy Programme (Ireland)

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking applications for its Green Enterprise: Innovation for a Circular Economy programme to support business and industry to develop and demonstrate new circular economy approaches.

The fund is aimed at innovative projects targeting the area of Packaging, Plastics, Textiles, Construction & buildings, Food, water & nutrients; Electronics & ICT and Batteries & vehicles. Circular business models contribute to a climate-neutral, resource-efficient economy, but also offer competitive opportunities, and appeal to customers and consumers looking for sustainable options. It is managed through the EPA’s National Circular Economy Programme and is co-funded by EPA Research.

Thematic Areas
The thematic areas for this call relate to priority areas for the Circular Economy Programme which are aligned to the EU Green Deal priorities: Packaging, Plastics, Textiles, Construction & buildings, Food, water & nutrients; Electronics & ICT and Batteries & vehicles.

Funding Information
The 2022 call is now open with a fund worth €650k. Applications for funding in the range of €50k-€100k are invited, to support Irish businesses develop circular solutions in product and service design, production, distribution and use of resources (including resources and raw materials).
The maximum amount of funding available is €100,000 per grant award. Grant aid is provided on a shared cost contribution basis, from 25%-95% of the total eligible project costs incurred.
Target audience
Green Enterprise is seeking innovative projects that will have a direct impact on business and industry operating environments and provide demonstration and evidence for circular economy in Ireland.

Eligibility Criteria
A core principle of the funding provided under the EPA Research Programme is that it promotes the development of research capacity on the island of Ireland. Therefore, applications for funding will only be considered where the lead applicant organisation is located on the island of Ireland.
Whilst co-applicant organisations located in other jurisdictions may participate in projects funded by the EPA Research Programme (as Co-applicants), they are restricted in terms of the categories of expenditure considered eligible for funding.
The Green Enterprise call is not open to applicants outside of Ireland.
