2019 N-Peace Small Grants Program to Protect the Rights of Women in Nepal
Deadline: 30 August 2019
The N-Peace Network is currently accepting applications for its 2019 N-Peace Small Grants program for Nepal.
The small grants component aims to support civil society action on the ground in implementing the women, peace and security agenda, and will focuses on three of the four pillars of the WPS agenda:
- participation – ensuring women’s equal participation in the decision making process;
- protection – protecting and promoting the rights of women in conflict affected situations; and,
- prevention – preventing conflict and all forms of violence against women in conflict and post conflict situations.
Nepal has a progressive legal framework for the protection of women’s rights which aims to create an enabling environment for gender equality. Efforts are now needed to ensure effective implementation at local and provincial levels in light of the introduction of the federal system in 2017. This year the N-Peace CSO Small Grants will support the strengthening of implementation of laws and policies that protect the rights of women and promote gender empowerment; this includes policies on gender-based violence, chhaupadi, the dowry system, truth and reconciliation and discrimination of marginalized groups.
