World Food Programme recruits 01 Programme Gender Officer
Responsibilities
- Under the direct supervision of the Regional Gender Advisor, the JPO will perform the following responsibilities:
- Support the roll-out of Gender capacity strengthening initiative and organize workshops for Regional Bureau, Country Offices staff and cooperating partners on WFP Gender toolkit to strengthen gender mainstreaming
- Support integrated work with programme units at regional level for coordinated action and mainstreaming of Gender in regional initiative
- Liaise with Country Offices (CO) Gender Officers/focal points and support development and implementation of Gender action plans
- Support implementation of corporate gender mainstreaming tools, such as the Gender Transformation Programme, Gender and Age Marker, and the Gender Results Network
- Contribute to analyses / desk reviews, including compiling good gender equality / transformative practices in humanitarian and development contexts
- Support monitoring and evaluation function to generate Gender related content to support programme formulation
- Ensure follow-up and implementation of any other recommendations from audit, evaluation and other reviews related to gender with the aim of strengthening gender transformation, documenting lessons learned and best practices
- Provide contributions to reports, publications, and other information products, including liaising with WFP country offices and HQ (Head Quarters) entities
- Contribute to the Gender awareness raising by contributing to development of communication materials contributing to Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment
- Identify opportunities for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment advocacy and suggest modalities of engagement
- Contribute to gender equality and food security-related campaigns, including International Women’s Day, the 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence and other key annual events
- And complete other assigned tasks.
Job requirements
- Advanced university degree in one of the following disciplines: social sciences, gender, international development, international relations, human rights, political science, or another related field
- 2 years of progressively responsible relevant professional and practical experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment programming / operations
- Gender-related knowledge and skills, including knowledge of current thinking and development in the field of gender equality in humanitarian and development contexts
- Knowledge and understanding of key issues of gender equality and gender-based violence and the interlinkages with Food security
- Knowledge of effective advocacy and communication tools and techniques for advancing gender equality
- Solid analytical skills, including gender analysis
- Fluency (Level C) in English and working knowledge of French
- Proficiency in Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience in monitoring, database and information management will be an asset
- Writing skills (reports, guidance and training materials etc.)
- Ability to work within multicultural team, to travel to various countries
