ABOUT WFP

WFP’s Regional Bureau for the Middle East and Northern Africa (RBC), based in Cairo, Egypt, provides strategic guidance, policy/technical support and direction to WFP operations and activities in 14 countries: Algeria, Armenia, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, State of Palestine, , Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and Yemen. These country offices aim to assist roughly one-third of all of WFP’s beneficiaries (approx. 30 million) in some of the most critical humanitarian emergencies of our time. RBC is also active in the ‘Changing Lives’ side of WFP’s mandate, helping national governments and local communities improve nutrition, livelihoods, school feeding, social protection, climate and disaster risk reduction and other programmes that build resilience and support development. For WFP to achieve its goals in confronting zero hunger it is critical that the organization to diversify its partnership base and in particular its engagement with corporations, foundations and individuals who share WFP’s values and who are keen to partner with us to support our mission.
JOB PURPOSE
The Private Sector Partnerships Officer will report to the private sector partnership lead under the overall stewardship and guidance of the Regional Partnerships Unit Head at RBC. The Private Sector Partnerships Officer will also work with RB cross functional teams in order to carry out an in-depth mapping of the potential programme entry points within the CSPs. The Private Sector Partnerships Officer  will be Cairo-based but may be expected to carry out CO missions and if deemed necessary. The duration of the assignment will be for an initial 4-month period with the possibility for extension depending on the availability of funds.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education : Advanced University degree, or University degree with additional experience and training/courses, in one or more of the following disciplines: marketing, international development, communications and social sciences.
Language : Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language (Arabic)
Experience : A minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience in a partnership development and/or business development. The ideal candidate will have experience in both the development/humanitarian sector while also have experience or a strong network in the business or foundations sector.
OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
– Experience of prospecting new high-value fundraising partners in an international organization with a development/humanitarian mission, ideally with UN experience is desirable.
– Experience in research, planning, preparing and landing pitches and negotiating with potential partners/clients.
– Demonstrated track record of securing multi-year partnerships from prospect identification and research to an agreement in the non-profit or business sectors.
– The incumbent will need to have demonstrated strong skills in presenting and capacity in developing attractive easy to digest visuals needed for business development
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Provide dedicated support to a select group of COs on business development planning, prospecting and implementation. This includes developing documents from scratch as well as editing draft documents produced by COs.
Deliver comprehensive mapping reports in line with the existing reports on the remaining countries which need to be mapped. This includes the report, summary report, summary presentation, and any other materials needed.
Support the RB in a separate outreach plan for business development which looks at corporations that have a regional footprint, and which can allow the RB to access strategic funds and support.
Maintain a database of existing and prospective partners across the region.
Develop factsheet and quality communication materials needed to showcase the work in the region, in consultation with the CAM unit and working collaboratively with internal programme focal points and experts to identify and create compelling materials and value propositions, bespoke for the private sector audience. To disseminate business development materials with COs to support their business development planning.
