USAID-Lens: BSP and Private Sector Transformation and Service Support Grant Opportunity

The USAID Jordan Local Enterprise Support Project (LENS) is seeking applications for its Business Service Providers (BSP) Private Sector Transformation and Service Support Grant Opportunity.

The primary purpose of this grant is to provide support to existing-operational businesses and Business Service Providers (BSP) to create or develop initiatives aimed at fostering local economic growth targeting existing, operational businesses that are Jordanian businesses that employ Syrians, Syrian-owned businesses or general partnerships between Jordanians and Syrians.

The grant program is designed to facilitate and encourage business growth in Jordan for Jordanian and Syrian businesses through the increase in the volume and/or value of transactions of local goods and services provided by local communities. Any activities proposed under applications to this RFA should focus supporting business growth by linking businesses to new markets, supporting access to finance, developing new products, improving the quality of MSE services or products, among others.

Objectives

  • Increasing participation of Syrian-owned or partially-owned MSEs or MSEs that employ Syrians in target sectors through collective action and cooperation by supporting the establishment and development of industry groupings (i.e. clusters). Enhancing cooperative networks among MSEs and contribute to information flows and exchange of experience;
  • Establishment of business linkages between MSEs and larger private sector entities through identifying and matching potential partners, facilitating supplier development programs where MSEs are coached and mentored in key areas such as design and production;
  • Encourage collaboration between BSPs and certifying bodies to offer collective assistance in order to facilitate the adoption of product quality and process standards through providing information and professional training to implement product quality standards.

Funding Information

  • The requested amount must not exceed JOD70,000.
  • The implementation period must not exceed six months (6 months).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be a qualified national or international entity with a local registration in Jordan. The applicant can be a private, non-profit organization, universities, research organizations, professional associations and relevant special interest associations.
  • The Applicant must already work with Syrian populations in Jordan and have all necessary approvals related to its work by the relevant Jordanian authorities.
  • Applicant must be officially registered with the appropriate Jordanian supervisory body or ministry with local offices based in Jordan.
