Summary:
The work schedule for this position is:  Full time (40 hours per week)

Duties
Basic Function of the Position:  Incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Consular section under the overall supervision of the Consular Officer.
Shares responsibility for the correspondence and outreach in the consular section, ensuring that all Non-Immigrant Visa (NIV), Immigrant Visas (IV) and American Citizen Services (ACS) queries are answered within three days via phone, e-mail or fax.

— Handling LPR cases/Transportation letter in case of loss of Residency Permit (« Green Card »),
   etc.
— Respond to all e-mails sent to the Consular section e-mail address
— Keep abreast of Dept changes to consular applications and FAM updates
— FAM, cable and miscellaneous research
— Backup cashiering
— Projects and duties when assigned by Consular Officer
–Provides notarial functions

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:   The incumbent must have successfully completed the Con Gen (PC 530) course at FSI within the last five years.  If the training was more than five years ago, the incumbent must have worked as a consular associate within the last five years.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:   Knowledge of Consular computer applications, particularly for American Citizens Services and Non-Immigrant visas is required.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:   English level IV (speaking/reading/writing), French level I (speaking/reading) is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Must be flexible and able to adapt to a series of ever-changing work assignments and priorities in a professional manner. Good public communication skills, time and task management skills are required.

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.  Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
