URBAN REFUGEES (UR) is an international NGO aiming to improve the lives of urban refugees in the Global South. To do so, we:

• Support Refugee-Led Organisations (RLOs) to develop their capacity to organise, plan and advocate for themselves through our incubation program. This includes: technical assistance and training, support in governance, fundraising and communication mapping.
• Create and coordinate a network of NGOs, academics, Refugee-Led Organisations (RLOs) and practitioners to help them share best practices and work together towards shared goals.
• Advocate to change policies affecting urban refugees.

Objective :

Under the responsibility of the program manager, the translator will take part in the identification of Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs) in the Middle East.

Roles and responsibilities :

•  Social media watch to collect information in arabic about RLOs or informal groups led by refugees in countries identified by UR.
• Report of the collected elements in english.
• Translation of various documents (information, advocacy, communication…) from english to arabic.
• Other tasks may be needed.

Essential requirements : 

• • Fluency in arabic or native speaker;
  • Fluency in english required, french is a strong asset;
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in a multicultural team;
  • Organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, and follow-through;
  • Extremely reliable and trustworthy;
  • Able to work both autonomously and as a member of a team, proactively and with limited supervision;
  • Previous experience working with an NGO is a strong asset;
  • Understanding of refugees humanitarian context desirable.
