How can you make a difference?
The Procurement Specialist supervises the procurement team and co-ordinates procurement.  Act as alternate secretary to the Contract Review Committee (CRC). Propose method of purchase LTA’s, Local Regional Procurement, Direct Orders, etc.  Liaise with Supply Division (SD) on supply related issues.  Ensure all procurement activities are compliant.  Conduct market research. Negotiate with suppliers to resolve issues, concerns, queries and disputes in the best interest of UNICEF.
Under the supervision of the Chief of Operations carry out procurement activities within UNICEF’s Regulations and Rules of a range of varying technical level commodities for direct shipment to UNICEF assisted programmes, sourcing markets for suitable suppliers and appraising supplier performance, and maintaining management information data base.
To qualify as a/an [champion or advocate] for every child you will have…
Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Management, International Economics, Engineering, International Development, Contract/commercial Law or specialization in directly related areas including credited courses in supply, logistics, purchasing or contracting. Equivalent educational qualification in relevant areas (transport or logistics operations/management, supply management, etc.)
*A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
Membership or enrolled for membership – of recognized professional audit body is an advantage.
Five years of relevant professional work experience in supply/logistics/purchasing/contracting at the national and international level.
Experience in developing and emergency countries/duty stations Experience in conducting training is an asset
Good judgement, initiative, high sense of responsibility, organizational and analytical skills.
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of local language an asset.
