How can you make a difference?
Ensure the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of new initiatives and procedures related to logistics.
Manage Country Office supply inventories in order to permit the rapid movement of humanitarian supplies. Design and implement warehouse management and commodity tracking system.
Ensure timely transmission of logistics monitoring information, stock levels and distribution status to the logistics focal point at the national level and develop key performance indicators by which localized logistics contracts can be managed.
Assist in the preparation & monitoring of the supply and logistics distribution plans.
Support in the assessment of partners’ warehouse, conduct spot checks and report to program sections and supply unit on findings and recommendations.
Support in the provision of supply & logistics trainings to partners whenever needed.
Review and authorize release orders from Country Office Warehouses, ensuring accuracy of specifications of items.
Ensure the availability of Logistics services funds for all Logistics activities in Somalia, provide forecast to programme sections and report on quarterly spending.
Lead year end Logistics closure activities. Conduct at least 2 full stock physical count for all UNICEF controlled warehouses in Somalia.
Although the post is office-based, the responsibility can be physically demanding as staff member is often required to assist for all supply’s movement in country, require visits to warehouses and even provide technical support to all Zonal offices.
Directly supervising UNICEF Country Office logistics team.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
A university degree is required in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract/Commercial Law.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in administrative and/or supply-related work experience (supply or logistics) is required.
Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
Fluency in English and the local language is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
