BACKGROUND

UNICEF South Sudan Country Office (SSCO) manages significant programs in the areas of Health and Nutrition, Education, WASH and Child Protection with a huge supply and logistics component.  The procured supplies are received, stored, managed and dispatched through UNICEF warehouses in South Sudan.  Warehousing and Inventory Management of Programme supplies is of paramount importance to ensure efficient and effective supply delivery of UNICEF’s response in these Programme areas and SSCO supply delivery and emergency response is achieved and maintained.

PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Logistics Specialist, the Logistics Officer is responsible to plan, manage and monitor all aspects of warehouse and transport operations and inventory management of programme supplies at the Bor warehouse.  The incumbent will have supervisory responsibility for all staff located at the warehouse to support the logistics operations, while ensuring adequate oversight for and control of all warehouse-related activities to strengthen accountability and warehousing and inventory control system for supplies procured by UNICEF.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Lead all Bor warehouse activities required to effectively contribute to the South Sudan country office.
Review the warehouse inventory control systems for receipts, storage, and release of supplies from Bor to partners/project sites and supervises the preparation of appropriate documentation such as good receipts, stock cards, picking orders, shipping waybills, etc.
Ensure best practice is implemented for all aspects of warehouse operations.
Manage the picking and shipping/dispatch of all supplies requested for release and ensures adequate transport planning and arrangements are put in place to implement the dispatches, including but limited to Releases for Regular Programs and Emergency responses, Convoy movements, RRMs, Air and Barge movements and special projects using either the UNICEF contracted operators and/or Logistics Cluster.
Review the weekly warehouse report related to Bor warehouse in terms of in-stock, stock aging, stock expiry and dispatch reports and follow up on any required actions.
Manage the Bor warehouse and inventory management activities including but not limited to physical counts, stock transfers, inventory impairment, local kitting and repacking etc.
Ongoing assessment of warehousing capacity requirements, to ensure sufficient space, laborer’s, equipment and trucks are available to support warehouse operations in the most cost-effective manner.
Ensure effective communication is established with all stakeholders.
Manage the UNICEF VISION warehouse system and ensure all transactions are correctly and accurately recorded in the VISION system in a timely manner and that all documentations related are properly filed and readily available for reporting and audit purposes.

Provide capacity building to Implementing Partners logistics staff on good WIM applicable in the field context.
Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education:
First university degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field, or equivalent educational qualification in relevant areas (transport or logistics operations/management, supply management, etc.)
Work Experience:
Two years of progressively responsible professional work experience in logistics operations and management.
Experience of working within complex warehousing
Experience of supervising warehousing staff
Experiencing of managing batch managed supplies is an advantage
Experience of using excel to report and analyze data
Language:
Excellent English skills, both verbal and written, is essential
