U.S. Mission to Cameroon: Seeking Applications for Democracy, Human Rights and Governance Program

The U.S. Embassy in Yaounde-Cameroon, Political and Economic Section is seeking proposals for its Democracy, Human Rights and Governance Program to advance protection of international human rights by supporting governmental and nongovernmental organizations efforts to protect, promote, and enforce human rights on the one hand; and also projects that seek to provide assistance that enables citizens to select and replace their leaders through periodic, inclusive, accountable and free and fair elections.

The purpose of the Democracy and Human Rights Fund (DHRF) is to strengthen democratic institutions, improve governance, and promote respect for human rights in Cameroon. The DHRF provides assistance to Cameroonian organizations that seek to implement short-term, highly targeted activities designed to show measurable results.

Award Information

  • Estimated Total Program Funding: $350,000
  • Award Ceiling: $40,000
  • Award Floor: $10,000

Eligibility Criteria

  • The ARDF-Democracy, Human Rights and Governance Program is limited to Cameroonian local registered CBOs, associations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with at least 2 years of experience working in the areas of Democracy and Human Rights.
  • Organizations and entities with a prior history of non-performance of U.S. government grants are ineligible to apply for funding.
