U.S.Embassy in Banjul, Gambia is seeking applications to provide one-time small grants to improve basic economic or social conditions at the local community by funding the expansion of an existing project or activity.

10+ Funders for Agriculture, Food and Nutrition
10+ Global Donors for Improving Lives of Children in Poor Countries
10+ Donors that believe in building NGO capacities for Civil Society Development
15+ Donors for Saving the Planet: Grants for Environment, Conservation and Wildlife
The ASG Program is designed to support high-impact, quick-implementation activities which benefit a large number of people within one year without requiring further assistance. Projects that support livelihoods in Rural Provinces, value-added agricultural production, and projects that promote marketable skills are preferred. Grants are intended for local cooperatives.

Objectives

The purpose of ASG is to provide small-scale assistance to Gambian cooperatives as part of an ongoing commitment by the U.S. Government to support development activities on a local level. Projects selected for funding are those which:

20+ Donors standing up for Human Rights and Equality
10+ International Donors seeking to improve Access to Water, Hygiene and Sanitation
20+ Global Donors for Empowering Women and Girls
25+ Donors for the Empowerment of Youth
Improve basic economic or social conditions at the local community by funding the expansion of an existing project;
Have the potential to produce employment and marketable skills, such as sewing centers and agricultural cooperatives;
Assist vulnerable groups;
Support high-impact, quick-implementation activities which benefit a large number of people within one year without requiring further assistance;
Have the potential to generate additional income; and
Involve a significant local contribution in cash, labor, or material, and are within the ability of the local community to operate and maintain.
Funding Information

Award Amount: Multiple awards will be granted, with a maximum amount per award of $15,000.
Award Period: 12 months
Eligibility Criteria

U.S. Embassy Banjul encourages applications from all provinces.
All interested cooperatives must have an active registration with the Gambian Cooperative Agency at the time of submitting applicants application. In addition, the U.S. Embassy encourages all applicants to obtain for free a Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number and have an active registration with the System for Award Management (SAM).
Cost Sharing

This program requires cost sharing. The community contribution can include, but is not limited to cash, labor, or material, and are within the ability of the local community to operate and maintain.
