The U.S. Embassy Tokyo’s Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for proposals to manage and administer projects designed to foster people-to-people exchanges between American and Japanese youth and/or to deepen the understanding of U.S. culture and values among Japanese youth.

Objective

In this ever-changing world, young people are bombarded with influencers from all sides. While having options is good, also need guidance and mentorship from today’s exemplary leaders, influencers, and change makers. Knowing that future leaders are today’s youth, they must provide the opportunities for youth to learn about leadership, building fruitful relationships, and understanding the world around them. Additionally, youth outreach programs are an important tool for advancing U.S. foreign policy goals through interaction with next generation leaders and students and/or their teachers/mentors.

Priorities

The Embassy is particularly interested in supporting the following priority areas:

All programs must include an American element, such as a connection with American student/s, expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote to increase understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives, or discussions by Japanese speakers regarding their experience in the United States. Potential fields of programs include, but are not limited to:

Development of important leadership skills
Diversity and inclusiveness
Girls’/women’s empowerment
Understanding of U.S.-Japan alliance
Strengthening regional security
Civil engagement
American culture and values
