Job description

Incumbent expedites the arrival and departure of permanent employees and their dependents in Senegal. Also assists with select temporary duty personnel coming to, leaving from, or transiting the country. Meets, assists and supports travelers through customs clearances, check-in, passport formalities and baggage claim. Arranges ground transportation as necessary.

Incumbent makes reservations, including for flights, ground transportation, hotels, and excursions for mission staff. Assists with the same for CODELS and VIP visitors. Arranges for purchase of and reconfirmation of tickets, adjudicates any travel-related difficulties, intercedes, when necessary, to obtain reservations and assists travelers with receiving services in a smooth and trouble-free manner.

Incumbent serves as assistant and as back-up to the Travel Office Supervisor. Prepares Travel Authorizations (TA) and visa requests as needed. Maintains contacts with travel vendors, Senegalese government officials, and officials at foreign missions in Senegal to facilitate official travel of US Government employees and their dependents. Provides all travel services as required.

Job requirements

Experience: Minimum of one-year of customer service experience in travel industry working directly with paying customers for a travel agency, airline, hotel, or company catering to business and/or leisure travelers is required.

Job knowledge: Must be familiar with USG travel regulations, Fly America Act, Standardized Regulations, pertinent sections of the Foreign Affairs Manual, ABC travel guide, and IATA regulations.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary school is required.

Evaluations:

Language: English Level III (good working knowledge) (will be tested), French Level III (good working knowledge), and Wolof Level 2 are required.

Skills and abilities: Must be proficient in using a calculator, and with the Microsoft suite of applications. Must be able to use databases. Must be able to draft basic telegrams and correspondence in English. Must possess a valid local driver’s license.

Qualifications:

All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
