The Denver Foundation seeking Applications for Black Resilience in Colorado Fund (U.S.)

The Denver Foundation is seeking applications for its Black Resilience in Colorado (BRIC) Fund that is designed to allocate resources to address systemic racism as it affects Black communities across the seven-county Metro Denver region, particularly as these racial inequities have been exacerbated by the COVID 2019 pandemic and escalated racial violence.

1000 new grants and donors
BRIC is designed specifically to support Black-led and serving nonprofit organizations through responsive grants and leveraging organizational capacity building opportunities and resource procurement during times of crisis.

Funding Information

Awards will range from $5,000-$25,000.
Eligibility Criteria

View and receiving grant information
Be a viable 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization or have a fiscal sponsor
Be Black-led and Black serving. BRIC/The Denver Foundation defines “Black” as encompassing people of African and Afro-Caribbean descent, including African immigrants and refugees.
Serve the seven-county Metro Denver area
Fit one or more of the identified priorities, determined by a community-led advisory committee
Organization budget size — a minimum of $15,000, a maximum of $15,000,000
Priority will be given to organizations with limited or no access to other relief funds, limited or no endowments, and/or limited or no cash reserves.
Allowable Use of Funds:
Funds may be used for costs associated with sustaining operations, retaining employees, rent, and other expenses. Expenses may include new and emergency circumstances, particularly those that respond to program need s for social distancing, isolation, quarantine, and protective and cleaning supplies.
Ineligible Use of Funds:
Capital Campaigns
Endowments or reserve funds
Renovations
Reduction of accumulated debt prior to COVID-19
Purchase of major equipment
Re-granting
Stand-alone one-time festivals, conferences, or events
Independent projects, films, and publications
Programs offered as part of a larger institution (college, medical center, etc.)
Any political or religious doctrine or activities
