South East Water welcomes for Community Grants Program

The South East Water Welcomes for the Community Grants Program to support the health and liveability of the communities in the service area. In 2020, the program is open to community groups who:

Seed Grants
Support the health and liveability of Port Phillip Bay and Western Port – and areas nearby like beaches, creeks and wetlands.
Support the community in the areas of:
Affordability
Environment
Health and liveability
Water security and literacy
The grants are funded by a promise they made in the Five-Year Customer Commitment 2018–23 to support local communities.

Funding Information

Grant amount between $500 and $10,000.
Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply, your project or initiative needs to:
be located within the service area or provide services in the service area, or support another community group delivering services within the service area; and deliver services that positively supports the local community within one or more of the following community pillars: affordability; health and live ability; environment; water security.
Here are some examples of the types of groups that are eligible:
Friends groups who work to protect and enhance the natural environment surrounding the beach or waterways.
Community groups who have been impacted by a sewer spill.
Schools or groups who visit the bay for recreational or educational activities, or who help to build water literacy.
Support services that assist vulnerable community members with financial and nonfinancial support.
Groups working toward building greater understanding of and collaboration with Indigenous communities, for example on the cultural value of water.
Clubs who help to improve the physical or mental health of community members.
Other community and charitable groups who support others through initiatives that relate to affordability; health and live ability; environment; water security.
Ineligible events for Sponsorship

South East Water will not consider the hydration station for sponsorship for events that:

are outside South East water’s service region
only have connections to rainwater, tank or bore water
have less than 1,000 people in attendance
run for a duration of less than five hours
discriminate against any person(s), organization(s) or group(s)
conflict with the water industry and government policy
support a political party or lobby group
have products or services that are harmful to the environment
support foreign charities
create environmental hazards
increase the likelihood of damage occurring to the hydration station including raves, outside/indoor dance festivals and dance parties
have a mains tap located indoors
are promoted through corporate organizations (excluding not-for-profits)
Ineligible events for hire

South East Water will not consider the hydration station for hire for events that:

are outside South East water’s service region
only have connections to rainwater, tank or bore water
discriminate against any person(s), organization(s) or group(s)
conflict with the water industry and government policy
support a political party or lobby group
have products or services that are harmful to the environment
support foreign charities
create environmental hazards
increase the likelihood of damage occurring to the hydration station including raves,
outside/indoor dance festivals and dance parties
have a mains tap located indoors
