SOS Children’s Villages International recruits 01 Regional Head of Programme
SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 135 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. To support us with this important responsibility we are now looking for committed Regional Head of Programme.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Head of Programme ensures the implementation and alignment of WCNA’s programmes with the federation’s policies, approaches and guidelines. He/She supports capacity building within WCNA and priority MAs in order to improve our services in alternative care and family strengthening programming. He/She also contributes to the development of federation programme related policies, standards and guidelines.and deputes for the PD Director when applicable.
Under the leadership of the Programme Development Director IOR WCNA the Regional Head of Programme is responsible for:
- Lead a team of regional programme advisors focusing on creating a professional work environment whilst also creating opportunities for personal development.
- Provide expertise in implementing different forms of quality alternative child and youth care, leaving care, youth employability and family strengthening programmes.
- Build capacity of SOS Member Associations and core care coworkers in programme related topics and tools.
- Monitor and support the implementation of organisational and international quality standards, policies, and guidelines in SOS Member Associations, including evaluations and audits.
- Contribute to the programme planning process in the region for both new and existing programmes and support ongoing consolidation and prioritization.
- Contribute to the effective implementation of IOR strategies and action plans (annual plan, vision for change).
- Participate with the PD Director to the development of organisational policies and guidelines.
- Promote innovation and conduct reflection in programme related topics.
- Ensure strong collaboration and capacity building if necessary between Emergencies, PD, IPD, FC and ICT at the regional office for proposal design and project implementation.
- Develop, lead and support regional programme networks consisting of national, regional programme co-workers.
- Promote a learning environment with effective quality information management, lessons learnt and best practices documentation.
- Ensure best-practice sharing between MAs as well as within and between regions and promote peer-to-peer learning.
- Ensure the implementation of M&E standards for reporting and communication purposes.
- Promote gender mainstreaming within programme development including capacity building.
- Works closely with other functional Heads such as IPD and Emergencies to include timely programme input during design and implementation of projects.
- Demonstrates in every day work and attitude the values of SOS.
Job Requirements
- Master degree’s in social sciences, project management or related topics
- At least 8 years work experience in the area of child welfare, child and youth development, community development
- Experience in direct programme work required
Experience in leading teams
- Experience in gender
- Strong experience in project planning, monitoring and evaluation
- Experience in organising and facilitating workshops, meetings and trainings
- Strong organisational skills
- Proven ability to work independently, virtually and cross-functionally
- Fluent in written and spoken French and English
- Readiness to travel at least 30% of working time
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
