SNV is an open and learning organization that focuses on improving the lives of Ethiopian Need people through best practices in value chain, market, and youth and gender. Through its work in the three sectors, SNV in Ethiopia supports the development of a number of value chains and commodities to improve the Livelihoods. This takes a value chain and market development approach, with special focus on improving access to sustainable markets for smallholder farmers, youths, urban development and by developing business-to-business relations and improving business development services.

Overview of RAYEE Project:
SNV is partnering with Mastercard Foundation to implement the Realising Aspiration of Youth in Ethiopia through Employment- (RAYEE) project in Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, SNNP Regions, and Dire Dawa City Administration. The overall objective of this project is to secure dignified and fulfilling employment and income for 240,000 youth (of which 70% are women) with a focus in the Agribusiness sector. The project aims to achieve its objective through the promotion of micro and small enterprises for self -employment and securing wage employment for unemployed and underemployed youth through efficient market-driven skills development, job matching and improved performance of enterprises. Furthermore, to improve longer-term scaled up young women and men’s access to employment the project together with stakeholders will influence the existing youth employment ecosystem.
Job Description
Summary of Position
Micro and Small Enterprises Development Advisor (MSEDA) leads the planning and implementation of the Microenterprise interventions (focusing on self-employment). Together with the RAYEE project team will conduct market diagnosis, identify constraints and opportunities of potential value chains, design and facilitate development of the enterprise market systems that aim at enhancing the start-up and growth of youth owned Micro and Small enterprises using the market based approach. S/he will be responsible in designing quality capacity building schemes for young women and men who will start their own MSEs. The MSED Advisor will jointly work with the youth financial inclusion advisor to facilitate access to finance and strengthen the enterprises.
Qualifications
Education
A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Agribusiness, and other related fields
At least 8 years of direct experience in enterprise  and /or agribusiness development;
Experience in marketing, MSMEs, and access to finance;
Experience in youth employment and livelihoods
Experience in value chain development
Experience in public and private sector development
Experience in market system development approach is an added value
Experience in gender programming
Additional skills:
Considerable knowledge of sound enterprise business policies, procedures including a range of business support services such as business, financing, sales, and marketing
Knowledge on agribusinesses in different parts of the country
Understanding of a range of enterprise and agri-business opportunities and   supporting business start-ups and business expansions
Strong analytical and operational knowledge of enterprise and value chain/agribusiness development.
Strong networking, partnership, and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and in writing, work independently and as part of the team, and work effectively with co-workers, partner agencies and the private sector
Computer proficiency is required.

Terms of Appointment
This is a full-time position with the successful candidate being contracted on a 2 years contract  initially with the possibility of renewal. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience with an attractive benefits package.
