Job Description
We are currently seeking a Regional Water Supply and Sanitation Infrastructure Engineer for Africa. This position within the Water and Environment Functional Group ensures quality delivery of water supply, sanitation, and drainage projects and leads the development of SMEC’s water supply and sanitation business in Africa.

Manages, guides, and directs project teams and activities to achieve efficient, cost-effective, timely, and high quality delivery of water supply and sanitation consultancy assignments around Africa. Most work is dene from home office (Tanzania or Nigeria) with visits to other African countries as needed.
Prepares strategies and plans for development of SMEC’s water supply and sanitation business in Africa
Ensures preparation of high quality winning proposals and expressions of interest
Develops and manages good and effective relationships with existing and potential clients and funding agencies
Reviews and approves project technical reports, engineering designs, and outputs for quality assurance before submission to the Client
Coordinates, manages, and supervises the work of other staff members and experts
Performs role as a technical expert on projects as needed
Carries cut technical audits and review of SMEC projects performance
Undertakes activities to build the capacity of local and regional staff
Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Fluency in both English and French is mandatory
At least a Bachelors degree in Civil, Sanitary, Water Supply, or Environmental Engineering or related from a recognized university. Master’s degree is preferred.
At least 10 years overall relevant engineering experience in the field and at least 3 years experience managing or directing projects in developing countries. Project management experience is mandatory.
Strong technical knowledge in relevant areas such as Uiban Water Supply Planning and Infiastructure Development; Sanitation Planning and Infrastructure Development; Urban Stonnwater Drainage; Sewerage and Wastewater Management; Water and Wastewater Treatment
Excellent technical writing skills in English and French (mandatory). Experience in preparing proposals, reports, and or publications.
Proficient in use of computer software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc) to produce professional looking documents of international standards
Able to work with multidisciplinary multicultural teams
Able to deliver woik within tight deadlines and handle Iveavier work pressure near deadlines
Able to travel for visits to ditferent countries
