Highways and Byways – A Community of Service continues the work of the Missionary Sisters of Service (MSS) reaching out in hope and love to people socially and geographically isolated, strengthening community relationships and networks, developing leadership and empowering people to meet the challenges that confront them.
2021 – 2030 has been declared the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. The 2021 Highways and Byways Small Grants Program aim to help communities through initiatives that:
Focus on healing the land in holistic ways;
Increase opportunities for people to build community through practical projects focusing on land health, public or private;
Equip communities with knowledge and skills to sustainably manage land for current and future generations.

Climate Fund to alleviate energy poverty in Developing Countries

Healing the Land – Healing Ourselves – Together
2020 has seen nation (and our planet) challenged in more ways than we could ever have imagined. In 2021 they are seeking applications that focus on HEALING – particularly healing of our land – our earth – our ecosystems – our people.
Funding Information
Highways and Byways do not fund individuals. They are able to fund community groups or organizations which can demonstrate that they are at minimum and Incorporated Association or similarly constituted entity.
Projects are to be completed within 12 months unless otherwise negotiated. Generally, grants allocated are up to $3,000.
Who can Apply?
Highways and Byways – A Community of Service funds community groups and organizations which can demonstrate that they are at minimum an Incorporated Association or similarly constituted entity. They do not fund individuals.
Preference will be given to applications for projects in rural and regional Australia, from fire and drought affected communities and areas with vulnerable eco-systems.
