The Opportunity
 Save the Children with support from the Embassy of Ireland in Malawi, will be implementing Pathways for Strengthened Resilience and Graduation among Social Cash Transfer Programme Beneficiaries in Ntcheu District. The District Project Manager will be responsible for the operationalization of the project and be the key SCI representative on the ground.  S/he will ensure that the project is timely and efficiently delivered through provision of budget monitoring, staff and asset management, partnership management and be accountable for the overall implementation.
The overall impact goal of the project is to “contribute to reduced poverty, deprivation and increased resilience among the poorest and most vulnerable households in Ntcheu district” with an overall outcome of “An adaptive social protection model that builds the resilience of SCTP households with different levels of productive capacity, providing lessons for potential graduation pathways among the wide range of beneficiary households”. The project will adopt an adaptive programming approach in its implementation and its theory of change is based on 3 main pillars namely Adapt, Absorb and Transform.
Requirements
In order to be successful you will bring/have:
Master’s degree level qualification in Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, Development studies and other relevant field.
Those with BSc in a related field but with vast experience will be considered
Experience of delivering training to district and community based staffs
Performance and quality management of livelihood programmes.
Experience in working with local NGO partners.
Mature and able to function well within flat management structures with extensive consultation and horizontal collaboration
Strong leadership skills including ability to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Self-starter
Humanitarian context experience
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Good command of English (written and verbal).
Commitment to Save the Children values and Child Safeguarding
Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles
Strong understanding of Food Security, Livelihood/Recovery, economic empowerment and youth initiatives programming.
5 years demonstratable management experience in humanitarian operations, including significant field operations experience emergency programs; experience running development programmes an asset.
Result-oriented, able to set priorities and meet deadlines within a dynamic environment
Ability to work as part of field team and successfully join up work with partner staff
Ability to forge excellent relationships with Adolescent youth.
A good understanding of best practice techniques for achieving and sustaining youth’s positive engagement.
