Road Safety Grants Programme on Vehicle Safety Standards open for Mexico and Colombia

Applicants are invited to apply for the 16th round of the Road Safety Grants Programme on Vehicle Safety Standards, which is managed by the Global Road Safety Partnership, one of the eight implementing partners of the Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety, and supports projects to develop and deliver high-impact, evidence-based road safety interventions designed to strengthen road safety policies and their implementation.

15+ Donors for Saving the Planet: Grants for Environment, Conservation and Wildlife
Funding Information

Proposals can be submitted for grants up to a maximum amount of 120,000 Swiss francs (CHF) for a project of no more than 24 months.

Eligible Countries

20+ Donors standing up for Human Rights and Equality
10+ International Donors seeking to improve Access to Water, Hygiene and Sanitation
20+ Global Donors for Empowering Women and Girls
25+ Donors for the Empowerment of Youth
Applications addressing national level vehicle safety regulations reform and/or vehicle safety regulations implementation will only be accepted from Mexico and Colombia.

Eligibility Criteria

Governmental and non-governmental organizations based in Mexico and Colombia can apply for grants within the following parameters:
Governmental organizations with relevant authority over motor vehicle safety standards development and/ or implementation. Road police and military agencies are not eligible to apply.
Non-governmental organizations (including but not limited to civil society organizations and educational institutions) with relevant advocacy experience on policy reform/and or its implementation.
Additionally:
Applicants must be registered legal entities in the country of project delivery, capable of entering into contractual arrangements, receiving foreign funds, and assuming legal and financial obligations.
Applicants cannot be recipients of financial support from alcohol, firearms, pornography, or tobacco industries.
The Road Safety Grants Programme does not fund individuals.
Kind of Projects

The Road Safety Grants Programme supports efforts to strengthen vehicle safety regulations and ensure that the following five safety regulations are applied to light duty vehicles:

Occupant protection in front collisions
Occupant protection in lateral collisions
Seat belts and seat belt anchorages
Electronic stability control
Pedestrian protection
Grant proposals must focus on one or both of the following:

Advocating for improved national-level motor vehicle safety regulations. Some approaches might include:
Increasing consumer awareness of and demand for vehicle safety
Conducting political mapping and analysis of support and opposition
Building a coalition of stakeholders to advocate for policy reform and implementation
Engaging in media advocacy
Communicating directly with policy-makers
Supporting the implementation of motor vehicle safety regulations. Some approaches might include:
Increasing consumer awareness of and demand for vehicle safety
Supporting a government-led effort to develop an implementation plan, which might include organizing a multi-sectoral coordinating committee; advocating for establishment and allocation of a budget that will ensure effective implementation.
