Job Description

PATH is currently seeking a Program Associate for Sexual and Reproductive Health program under 2 activities in Senegal: Selfcare and Gender in ICT-Digital. Working under the management of the program lead, the Program Associate will join the project team to support the coordination development and implementation of activities for both projects described above. The Program Associate will liaise with PATH’s Sexual and Reproductive Health program for strategic support and all local stakeholders in Senegal.

About Self-care:

Building on momentum at the global level, PATH is working with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and partners in Senegal to advance self-care for Sexual and Reproductive Health Services (SRHS) through policy action and partner coordination. After a series of educational and consultative events to increase awareness of self-care, further disseminate WHO guidelines, and identify country-specific advocacy and learning priorities the Senegal Selfcare pioneers’ group was launched. This Pioneers group will provide technical and advocacy support to the MOH and drive a learning agenda, as well as engage in policy advocacy efforts to support the introduction and expansion of self-care interventions within Senegal’s health system.

About Gender in ICT-Digital

Globally and regionally there is increasing efforts to meet Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5, which puts the participation and inclusion of women in business as a key step towards fostering greater social, political, and economic development. Ensuring that women and girls are actively engaged and included in the rapidly growing technology and digital solutions space is critically important and timely. The scope of this project is to learn more about the role of women and girls in the ICT/Digital space in Senegal, the barriers they face working in this sector, and the opportunities that are emerging to determine and actions, advocacy, research that could be implemented in driving this forward.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the country lead and partners to supervise the advance of Selfcare goals for SRHS, as well as the role of women and girls in the ICT/Digital space. In Collaboration with the country lead, help on coordination of Selfcare pioneers’ group to improve collaboration on advocacy and technical issues, including convening partners on a monthly meeting basis and managing partner coordination/information sharing.
  • Supervise the tracking of advocacy activities and policy change in the Selfcare and the Digital space to ensure the workplan implementation.
  • Support the implementation of workshops and meetings, including assisting on agenda, participating on development of workshop content, preparing speakers, and facilitating working sessions during the workshop.
  • Contribute on Developing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders essential to implementation of the Selfcare project and communications strategies, including representatives from the Ministry of Health and other government bodies and civil society partners.
  • Working with project leadership, implementing the dissemination of project evidence, translating technical content into easily understood language, helping on development of targeted advocacy and communications materials, and serving as a hub for partner engagement.
  • In coordination with the project Team, Selfcare pioneers’ group and MOH, write meeting reports, supervise the development and management of needed communication, including project documentation such as presentations and reports, policy briefings.
  • Working with the project leadership and administrative staff, helps to plan and execute key events, conduct meetings and training, such as project dissemination events, technical working group meetings or policy and strategy consultations.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public health, public policy, communications, or related field plus a minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) complex issues in a concise, compelling, and easily understandable manner, including the ability to analyze policy.
  • Demonstrated success in planning and conducting project activities, advocacy to achieve health- or development-related policy/health service-related outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate scientific content into compelling, approachable written materials in a range of formats and for a variety of audiences, including donor, government, and corporate audiences locally, regionally, and globally.
  • Proven ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with government personnel, NGO partners, and international organizations; experience working with coalitions or virtual networks desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple demands, manage shifting priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and as part of a cross-disciplinary, global team.
  • Ability to work and communicate in French and English
