The U.S. Embassy Budapest, Public Affairs Section (PAS Budapest) of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to commemorate 100 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and Hungary.

Program Objectives

PAS Budapest invites proposals for programs to commemorate 100 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and Hungary: to renew conversations within Hungary about the importance and benefits of the transatlantic relationship and to celebrate the progress made in the last 100 years. All programs should underline the importance and value of the transatlantic community, and must include an American element, or connection with American expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of the importance and benefits of our relationship.

Activities that would typically be funded include, but are not limited to:

Dynamic, innovative programs related to the benefits of the Transatlantic relationship particularly those engaging youth and communities outside Budapest;
Storytelling projects or historical research projects that personalize the events and the benefits of the 100 years of diplomatic relations;
Civic and youth engagement, education programs;
Cultural collaboration in arts, including public art projects or art exhibits, directly related to the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship;
Engaging conferences, workshops, forums, or panel discussions directly related to the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship;
Recording, producing and distributing audio/video footage or short films.
Funding Information

Length of performance period: Three to Twelve months, typically
Number of awards anticipated: 3-10 awards (dependent on amounts)
Award amounts: awards may range from a minimum of $5,000 to a maximum of $25,000
Total available funding: Subject to availability of funds, expectedly up to $80,000
Program Performance Period: Proposed programs should be completed in twelve months or less.

Project activities should be directed at Hungarian audience and participants.

Youth (13-25), including students;
Emerging voices, including civil society leaders;
Established opinion leaders, including cultural and/or academic institution leadership;
Residents of regions outside of Budapest.
Funding Instrument Type

Grant, fixed amount award, or cooperative agreement. Cooperative agreements are different from grants in that PAS Budapest staff is more actively involved in the grant implementation. Examples of the substantial involvement by PAS Budapest staff include, but not limited to the development of the grant program, final approval of grant activities, and participation in selection panels for program participants.

Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations
Public and private educational institutions
Individuals
Public International Organizations and Governmental institutions
