NORCAP, part of the Norwegian Refugee Council, solves challenges in the humanitarian, development and peacebuilding sectors in order to better protect vulnerable people’s lives and rights. Since 1991 NORCAP has provided expertise to approximately 10,000 missions across the globe.We work with and through our partners to address challenges via three core activities:We develop partnerships with regional and global organisations and national stakeholders. Our aim is not only to reduce needs, but also to create choice and opportunity for vulnerable people.We deploy skilled experts to develop our partner’s capacity. Given their independence from agendas and interests of the organisations they are deployed to, our experts are well placed to identify and address challenges, improve collaboration and encourage new and innovative approaches.To better promote and protect democracy, credible elections, human rights, rule of law and peace, NORCAP recently established theProtection, Peace and Democracy Section. The section will further develop NORCAP’s ongoing projects and programmes and initiate new projects within the areas of protection, gender, human rights, peacebuilding and peacekeeping. With the new set-up, NORCAP aims to improve our response, including increased focus on prevention and preparedness, across the humanitarian, development and peace nexus. To this end, the section will also be following global and regional trends closely and produce relevant sectoral analysis. Your roleAs Director of the Protection, Peace and Democracy Section you will assume overall accountability for the strategic leadership and results of NORCAP’s protection, peace and democracy efforts. Protection and human rights make out the foundation for all the work NORCAP engage in and you will be spearheading our continued engagement in this work. To further develop and expand our reach, NORCAP needs to explore opportunities with a wider range of international donors. Representing NORCAP in relevant fora and develop new strategic partnerships will therefore be an important part of your job. The skills you apply when building these relationships will also serve you well when establishing the new section.
