The U.S. Mission to India is inviting applications for its Climate Change Workshop for Journalists to provide journalists with expertise on the climate crisis.

The grantee will organize 10 in-person workshops on the effects of climate change in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Telangana. The grantee will invite environmentalists, researchers, and senior environmental journalists from India and the United States to participate in these workshops.

Project Objectives

To increase the knowledge of beneficiaries around climate change issues, increase their confidence in reporting on such issues, and generally contribute to increased quality of reporting on climate change issues.
By the end of the project, the participants must be able to generate long-form articles on climate change.
The grantee will be responsible to hold three workshops for Telugu journalists and two workshops for Odia journalists.
About 30 participants are expected to attend these workshops, 20 Telugu journalists, and 10 Odia journalists.
The grantee must ensure that the participants are equipped to generate long-form articles on climate change.
A total of 50 articles are expected from the participants in the six months after the completion of the workshops.
Project Goal: Increased reporting that demonstrates a deeper awareness of climate change among journalists.

Project Audience(s): Primary beneficiaries would be vernacular journalists within the age group of 25-40, including at least 25 percent of whom are women. These journalists are professionals working on climate change reporting in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Odisha.
